LONGLEGS
by Ryan McCue, c. 2024
Late 2024 I was looking for professional poster design work, and felt a need to beef up my personal portfolio. I had also met with the team at Grandson — a studio currently sitting at the top of the poster design space — and had spent a few days fawning over their work.
At the time, their campaign for Longlegs was the talk of the town. I felt it would be nice to do an homage to their work for that film, embracing the original key art while trying to put my own spin on it. I gave myself one day to make my own tribute poster .
I liked the idea of creating some sort of monstrous title design treatment. I found a hi-res photo of a spider and cut out individual legs so I could rearrange them into my own sort of Frankenstein’s monster. Even though it’s a very literal interpretation of the film, I like how it evokes the horror of being caught in a killer’s maddening web.
